Wal-Mart, This time it’s personal

You would think that with all the legal issues that Wal-Mart has to face that they would try real hard not to do something that will get public attention.

First a couple of disclaimers;

1. All of this article is my opinion and my opinion alone, it does not reflect the thoughts of anybody else, just me.

2. I have never met nor have I seen any evidence that supports or denies these comments.

3. The person that I am talking about here is my daughter, and yes I am very biased when it comes to my children.

My youngest daughter used to work for Wal-Mart, she was hired several years  ago at the Wal-Mart on Barry Road in North Kansas City, MO. She moved to Jackson, MI where she was hired by the local Wal-Mart there.

Within the last month, that Wal-Mart has saw it necessary to fire my daughter for stealing. What did she steal, she was accused of reading a magazine at the check-out while working as a casher.

My daughter has denied these allegations and frankly I believe her, she has been repeatedly praised as an outstanding employee. Something else makes me suspect this action, this particular Wal-Mart terminated a large group of long term employees for the same type of frivolous accusations.

It appears that this store is trying to reduce it’s overhead on personnel costs, Wal-Mart has a history of keeping it’s operating cost low by minimizing what it pay to it’s employees. Do a Google search for Walmart employees and you will get over 2 million hits.

By firing my daughter for stealing, they have effectively eliminated her chances for getting a decent job. Why would they want to do that?

I hope that Wal-Mart the corporation will take a look at what has happened at Jackson, MI.

I use the store allot and I wont stop using it, it provides me with what I need. Terminating my daughter for stealing because she makes too much pay is not only wrong, but

stupid.

Blogging

I noticed that my blogging has slowed down, I have been busy with work and some personal stuff. I also noticed that I no longer need the attention that I craved from this venue.

Maybe Scoble is right, life has so much more to offer than spewing crap on the internet

The Perfect Web office equipment

I find myself on the road allot now-a-days and I wonder wat would I need to get the job done so that I could use road time effectively. The equipment u se the most are my laptop, cell phone, and the Internet (yes, I know it’s not equipment but it is essential).

So what if some bright kid developed a laptop with a built in removal cell phone that would connect to the Internet, ether inserted into the laptop or through Bluetooth when separated. You could have a Bluetooth headphone that would give the computer voice commands and use with the phone.

this computer would be small enough to carry and large enough to be functional. all of the devices in the laptop would be swap able depending on your environment and needs.

Given that everything (the headphones would attach or insert for storage or charging) is a part of the laptop, all equipment would use a single charger reducing what you would have to carry.

Hopefully some genius will read this and I can get one next year.

Airports, 120 VAC

I am sitting at O’Hara airport with my laptop, Moto Q, and iPod. What I need is power because American Airlines has delayed my flight back to Kansas City. It is amazing that with such a large business population, there are not many electrical outlets available for use by the general population.

I could spend $50.00 on an Admirals pass for the day, or use one of few outlet station I found in the K terminal.

The first is an expensive way to power up my toys business tools he second is too few and far away.

The military has just announce they will give 1 million dollars to anybody a an figure out a way to power up all of the soldiers equipment.

I will offer $10.00 (its what I can afford) for a way to power up my business tools ;-)
